- What should I expect at the first appointment?
- Your practitioner will have you fill out an intake form that will help her prioritize the areas of focus for your treatment. Once you have completed the form and had a brief interview with your practitioner, she will leave the room so that you can disrobe for your massage or lay on the table for your acupuncture session.
In a massage session, all areas of the body are covered by the sheets except the area that is currently being worked.
With acupuncture, the intake procedure is the same but includes a visual examination of the tongue and an analysis of your pulse.
- What should I bring to the session?
- If you are coming for a treatment covered by health insurance, please bring a copy of your prescription and your insurance card so that we may make a copy of them for our records.
Clients may also bring shorts and a sports bra to wear during the session if they are more comfortable doing so.
- What are your prices and hours of operation?
- Prices and hours vary by practitioner so please see your individual practitioner's web site for details on hours and rates.
- Are there times when massage should be avoided?
- Treatment with massage therapy should be avoided at the onset of any cold or flu-like symptoms including sore throat, nausea and fever. If you are experiencing a fever, massage should be avoided until 24 hours after the fever has broken.
Massage therapy should also be avoided if there is diagnostic work that has not been completed. For example, if you have recently had a fall or motor vehicle accident and you are in excruciating pain, it is advisable to work first with your primary doctor or emergency services to determine the timing for your first treatment.
- What types of payment do you accept?
- Payments are due at the time of service, unless insurance is being billed. All practitioners accept only cash and checks at this time.
- Does insurance cover massage and acupuncture?
- Each practitioner has separate polices for accepting insurance. Most massage therapy sessions covered by insurance require a prescription from a physician or chiropractor that provides the therapist with a treatment plan including:
- Start date for treatment
- Frequency of treatment
- Areas of focus
- Diagnosis codes
- Number of sessions prescribed
In general, massage is a covered benefit for acute injuries and chronic conditions that can be improved with treatment.
Massage therapy is a covered benefit for motor vehicle accidents and work-related injuries. We accept Personal Injury Protection or (PIP) insurance which is provided by your auto insurer for motor vehicle accidents. We also bill the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries for work-related injuries.
In order to provide massage therapy for motor vehicle accidents or work-related injuries we require a claim number, billing information including an address for claims submission, and a current prescription.

Massage is not covered for stress, anxiety, or general health maintenance.
- Which plans are accepted by your practitioners?
- Each practitioner has a specific list of plans that she will bill on your behalf. We recommend that you check with your plan to verify coverage for complementary care such as massage and acupuncture.
Copayments for your sessions are generally collected at the time of service.
- What is your cancellation policy?
- Refer to each practitioner's website to find their cancellation policy.
